Seattle Family Photography
Natural, Heartfelt Images That Actually Feel Like You
Looking for a Seattle family photographer who captures real connection without stiff posing or forced smiles?
I specialize in relaxed, lifestyle family photography across Seattle and the Eastside, creating images that feel natural, connected, and true to your family.’
Most parents come into family photos with one big concern: What if my kids don’t cooperate?”
That’s completely normal. They don’t need to.
I’ll guide things gently so your session feels easy and natural, with space for your kids to be themselves. The best photos usually happen in the in-between moments, not when everyone is trying to be perfect.
All families are welcome here. Fully and without exception. I photograph families of all backgrounds, identities, and structures, and I’m committed to creating a space where you feel safe, respected, and completely yourself.
-
Your immediate family, and pets are always welcome too.
I photograph all types of families and people. LGBTQ+, BIPOC, differently-abled, and non-traditionally structured families are fully welcome and celebrated here.
-
Family sessions can happen any time of year.
Outdoor sessions are best in the late afternoon or evening for the most flattering light.
In-home sessions work best midday, when natural light is strongest. -
I photograph families all over the greater Seattle area, including the Eastside (Bellevue, Kirkland, Redmond, Issaquah) and areas north and south of the city like Edmonds, Shoreline, Bothell, and Renton.
Sessions can take place in your home, your yard, or at an outdoor location like a park or beach. Natural-light studio options are also available for an additional fee.
If you’re not sure where to go, you don’t need to have that figured out. I have a list of favorite locations and will help guide you toward a spot that fits your vision, the season, and the kind of feel you’re drawn to.
-
Sessions are typically 45–60 minutes.
We keep things relaxed and flexible, with time to move, reset, and follow your kids’ lead without anything feeling rushed.
-
You don’t need to have this figured out ahead of time.
I’ll help guide you toward outfits that feel comfortable, natural, and photograph beautifully in your chosen location.
Once you’re booked, I’ll send a detailed style guide with everything you need, from colors and fit to how to pull outfits together without overthinking it.

A few things families often ask:
Q. What if my kids don’t cooperate/melt down?
A. That’s completely okay (and honestly, very common). Kids don’t need to perform or behave for photos. Sessions are relaxed and kid-led, with movement and breaks built in. Some of the most meaningful images come from the in-between moments.
Q. We’re a little awkward in front of the camera — will you tell us what to do?
A. Yes. I’ll gently guide you so you never feel stiff or overly posed, while still leaving space for natural moments to unfold. You don’t need to know how to pose, that’s my job!
Q. Where do family sessions take place?
A. Sessions can be in your home or outdoors around the greater Seattle area, including the Washington Park Arboretum, Carkeek Park, Bellevue Botanical, and other local favorites. I’m always happy to help choose a location that fits your family and the season.
Q. Do you offer neighborhood or close-to-home sessions?
A. Yes. For families who want to stay close to home, we can build the session around your everyday surroundings — a short walk along your usual route, time in your yard, and any nearby spots that feel familiar to you. These sessions are relaxed, low-key, and especially great for young kids or families who want something very natural.
Q. What should we wear?
A. After booking, you’ll receive a detailed style guide that walks through color, pattern, fit, and how to coordinate outfits in a way that feels natural and timeless. It’s designed to take the guesswork out and help you feel confident going into your session.

Ready to learn more about family sessions?
Hey! I’m Kiersten. (She/Her/Hers). I’m a newborn, family, and headshot photographer.
While I've called Seattle home for quite some time now, my roots lie in Minnesota, where the spirit of "Minnesota nice" runs deep in my veins and reflects in both my personal and professional life.
One thing I often hear from clients is how comfortable I make them feel during our sessions, which is my ultimate goal (besides, you know, getting gorgeous photos together).
If you’re searching for a photographer who keeps things relaxed and easy, you’ve landed in the right spot. I'm not the type to go all out with loud cheers or make you do zany antics just to get “the perfect shot” (not that there’s nothing wrong with that).
Instead, I believe in going with the flow because let's face it, both photo sessions and life never go exactly as planned (especially with fussy toddlers or, you know, husbands). During a session, you’ll often find me cracking jokes, helping you remember what to do with your hands, or just backing up and making space for you to relax with your people. My calm approach allows clients to not feel pressured to be anything but themselves.
Oh, and when I'm not behind the camera, you can probably find me sipping one of Seattle’s many amazing lattes, playing guitar, obsessing over my plants, or enjoying the absolute beauty of the Pacific Northwest with my Korean rescue pup named Fig.
Let’s bid farewell to the awkward photo shoot and create some natural, heartfelt photos together.
